I always knew I wanted to work with children, but I wasn’t sure teaching was the right path for me. One day, while babysitting a young girl recovering from cancer treatment, I witnessed something that changed my life. Due to radiation, she had developed facial paralysis, and during my time with her, her speech-language pathologist came for a session. I was amazed by how fun and interactive the therapy was—they were playing, laughing, and building communication skills at the same time. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to become a speech-language pathologist. My goal as an SLP is to create therapy experiences that are both enjoyable and impactful, helping children develop strong and confident communication skills.
